Wrong way

Pennsylvania Avenue between Hickory and Liberty streets was closed shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday and will remain closed for several weeks, according to officials, though it could be opened on some weekends. A milling and paving project on the avenue was scheduled to begin Tuesday. A sign at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Market Street indicated that the avenue was closed to through traffic and showed a detour north on Market. Motorists who go west on Pennsylvania past Market will be back. The only legal option at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Liberty is a left turn onto Liberty, eventually returning to Market via Clark Street or Pennsylvania.
