Presentations in Pastel

September 14, 2010
Observer Today
Russell Elementary School hosted artist David Miller on Thursday evening to do storytelling and pastel drawing for kindergarten students and their siblings. The event was made possible through a grant from the Early Childhood Coalition for a back-to-school family activity to help ease the transition from preschool to kindergarten. Miller, of Gerry, NY, has been doing “Presentations in Pastel” programs for over 30 years for schools, conferences, seminars, anniversaries, and retirement parties. He told the story of Harold, a boy that is frustrated by limitations such as being too small or too big for certain things as a five year old. Pictured, Miller draws Harold in his bed thinking of all the things he could be when he grows up such as a doctor, pilot, football player, and teacher to name a few.
