Prudence D. Derby and Nicholas R. Hatten were united in marriage on July 10, 2010 in a seaside ceremony in Nassau, Bahamas. The Rev. A. Dewitt Hutcheson performed the double- ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Derby of Cherry Creek. She is the granddaughter of Audrey Derby, Florence Derby and the late Theron Derby, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Shearer. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Hatten of Laurel, Miss., and Mr. and Mrs. Matt Broussard of Biloxi, Miss. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Strangi and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hatten.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a high-low style, ivory sweetheart strapless faille gown. She carried a bouquet of assorted pink roses intermingled with butterflies. The bride was attended by her sister, Makenzie VanGorder, as matron of honor. Jeremy Wheeler, friend of the groom, served as best man.

A cocktail reception was held in the garden for friends and family immediately following the ceremony. After the wedding, the couple continued their honeymoon in the Bahamas.
Both bride and groom attended and graduated from Mississippi State University. The bride is an associate veterinarian at Moonbrook Veterinary Hospital in Jamestown. The groom is an environmental engineer for the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
The couple currently reside in both Bemus Point and Biloxi with their blended family of one dog and five cats.
