GOWANDA - The Gowanda Panthers were up 22-14 at the half, but could not find the end zone in the second half and gave up 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter as they lost 29-22 to the Allegany-Limestone Gators in non-league high school football action Friday.
John Schott recorded his first touchdown of the game in the first quarter on a 15-yard pass from Gowanda quarterback Alex Sternisha. Allegany-Limestone answered back as T.J. Hulse found paydirt from 2 yards away for the first of his three scores of the night.
The Panthers scored twice in the second quarter, once on a 4-yard run by Sternisha and again on a 35-yard fumble recovery by Schott. However, that would be the last time Gowanda would cross the goal line, but not before allowing three more scores by Allegany-Limestone.
Justin Woods had a 1-yard run for a touchdown just before the half and the Gators tied it up on Hulse's 3-yard run and Wood's two-point conversion run in the fourth quarter. Allegany-Limestone took their first lead of the game, and the win on a 2-yard scamper by Hulse.
