Mr. and Mrs. Mark A. Patterson

Amber Michelle Whalen and Mark Aaron Patterson were united in marriage on July 10, 2010 at the home of Janet and George Scurria in Cambridge, N.Y. The garden ceremony was officiated by Ministers Mary DuRoss Cole and Denis F. Cole. Gloria Dawley, aunt of the bride, did a reading from "The Velveteen Rabbit."

The bride is the daughter of William and Deborah Whalen of Cambridge. The groom is the son of William and Patricia Patterson of Fredonia. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless sweetheart taffeta pick-up ballgown, with beaded metallic lace detail and chapel train. Maid of honor was Ashlee Whalen, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Belinda Sawyer and Jennifer Waite, sisters of the bride, and friends Bernadette Callender and Anne Whelan. The flower girl was Kelsey Stewart, cousin of the bride.

Best man was Michael Patterson, brother of the groom, and groomsmen were Erik Mazur, Sean Mahany and Patrick McGowin, friends of the groom. The ring bearer was Gabriel Waite, nephew of the bride.

The reception, immediately following the ceremony, was held at the Scurria residence.

Both are 2006 graduates from Oneonta State University, the bride received her degree in teaching and is an elementary teacher. The groom received his degree in the music industry. He is currently working on his master's degree in secondary education and is employed by Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield.

The couple honeymooned at Montego Bay, Jamaica. They reside in Selkirk, N.Y.
