Shirley J. Draves, formerly of Pine Street, Dunkirk, NY died Wednesday morning (Nov. 3, 2010) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk.
She was 97 years of age, born in Dunkirk on April 8, 1913, the daughter of the late Gabriel and Alice (Madurski) Skrzypek.
A lifelong Dunkirk resdient, Mrs. Draves was a retired employee of M. Wile. She was a member of Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish - St. Hyacinth's Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Richard) Sullivan, Virginia Halberg and Marcia (Fred) Mackowiak, all of Dunkirk; two step-daughters, Shirley (David) Wasmund of Tampa, Fla., and Carol Glod of Philadelphia, Pa.; three sisters, Sophie Kucharski, Mary Farrell and Loretta Szalkowski, all of Dunkirk; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis A. Draves, who died April 25, 1996; two stepgrandsons, John Glod and William Glod; three brothers, Stanley, Edward and John Skrzypek; and six sisters, Frances Peglowski, Rose Tofil, Elizabeth Krystofiak, Florence Kron, Irene Wallace and Viola Sek.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9:15 from the Newman Funeral Home Inc., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish - St. Hyacinth's Church. Interment will follow in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. today. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Chautauqua County Home Auxiliary.
