Friends of Collins Library

COLLINS - The November Auction Basket at Collins Public Library was won by Vicki Smith of Gowanda. The monthly baskets are sponsored by The Friends of Collins Library with all proceeds going to the library.

During this disturbing and unsettled time for libraries in the Buffalo and Erie County Library system, the Friends, who are co-sponsors of the Music in the Library Concert Series, have been exploring ways in which to assist the Collins Library. Those who have enjoyed the eight free concerts that have been presented during 2010 may want to show their appreciation by purchasing some raffle tickets.

Mary Stelley, a past president of The Friends, has donated a charming basket filled with Christmas goodies. The drawing will be held on Dec. 22 and it is not necessary to be present to win. The basket is located just inside the main library and tickets can be purchased at the desk. Cost is $1 a ticket, three tickets for $2 and 15 tickets for $5.

Suggestions for fundraisers are welcome and can be made by calling Joan Byrne, president of The Friends of Collins Library, 532-2507. The membership drive for 2011 will get underway shortly and the next quarterly meeting will be Feb. 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room of Collins Library. Become an active member, attend the meetings and support the Collins Library.
