2:15 p.m.: Tractor-trailer driver identified in train accident

A Texas tractor-trailer driver died this morning at 8:30 after the rig he was driving hit a train carrying passengers on Middle Road in the city of Dunkirk.

According to WDOE-AM, Randolph Todd, 51, Shepherd, Texas, was struck by a passenger train. He was on his way to make a delivery to the Nestle Purina plant in the town.

Shepherd is located 55 miles from Houston on the eastern side of the state of Texas.

Dunkirk Police, Dunkirk Fire, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Police were all on the scene of the accident this morning.

The train, which was part of an Amtrak passenger train, was damaged as well. There was no report of injuries to the passengers, however, the engine of the train was damaged in the accident. The train had 247 passengers.
