The Northern Chautauqua Quilting Companions has been busy producing wheelchair/bed caddies as its community service activity for the year 2010. More than 125 caddies have been donated to the Chautauqua County Home for its residents. The caddies, which may be used with the velcro on their wheelchairs or placed under their bed mattress, have three pockets that the residents may use for magazines, books, TV remotes or other personal objects.
The 2011 community service activity for NCQC is making pillowcases. This activity was kicked off at their annual Christmas Party held at the Sheridan VFW Dec. 7, 2010 when more than 45 homemade pillowcases made by members of the quilting guild were donated. They ranged the whole spectrum of color and design. Co-chairpersons for the annual pillowcase drive are Darlene Kawski and Bonnie Schneider. Pillowcases will be donated to various community organizations.

The NCQC meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Harvest Chapel Free Methodist Church at 39 Matteson St. in Fredonia. The next meeting will be Jan. 25 at 7 p.m.
