Winter Festival Treasure Hunt Medallion found

February 11, 2011
Observer Today

MAYVILLE - The 2011 President's Day Weekend Winter Festival Treasure Hunt Medallion has been found!

Congratulations go out to the winner of this event, who found the medallion in Busti.

Where was it? It was at the gazebo in Busti under the pillow in Santa's chair.

The prize, a $500 U.S. Savings Bond, donated by Jamestown Savings Bank, a Division of Northwest Savings Bank, will be presented to the winner on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. during the Grand Opening Ceremonies and Official Lighting in front of the ice castle at Lakeside Park in Mayville.

To find out who located the Festival medallion this year, plan on coming to the Opening Ceremonies and Official Lighting of the Castle Friday evening. The Festival events will be held on Feb. 19 beginning at 10 a.m., going until after the 8 p.m. fireworks and the Teen Freeze Dance (8 to 10 p.m. after the fireworks) and on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Thanks go to Melissa Warsitz and C.J. Kelley of Jamestown Savings Bank for again putting together the treasure hunt this year and creating some great clues. Because they worked so hard creating the clues, we thought you'd like to hear the rest of them:

Clue 5: Sometimes sweet, sometimes still but at the end of the forest you will find a mill.

Clue 6: 7000+ people?!! Really? Where are they all, in such a town so small!

Clue 7: Find it or bust..I wish I could look (I know where it is, I read the book!)

Clue 8: Several great people have started out here, a general, a governor, and the winner by far..first woman to pass the bar!

Clue 9: Deer and a sleigh sit upon the lawn, what's this? I thought this Christmas was gone!

Clue 10: Up the steps to sit on Santa's lap, what's in his chair? Why, the Medallion's there!
