Cassadaga historian presents historical report to Thule Lodge

BEMUS POINT - John Sipos, historian for the Thule Lodge 127 of southwestern New York and the village historian for Cassadaga, recently made a presentation to the lodge members. Sipos has served as the Thule Lodge historian for more than 10 years and the village of Cassadaga historian for six years.

During this past year, Sipos kept records of activities and events of the lodge. At a recent meeting of the lodge, Sipos presented a notebook of records, photographs and newspaper articles of the lodge, to 2011 Lodge Chairman Ralph Veights, and immediate past chairman Edwin Sandberg. Sandberg was the lodge chairman for 2010 and has served as the Swedish district master for New York State District 4. Thule lodge member Susan W. Sipos, who has been a member of Thule Lodge for more than 26 years, is a computer artist, and created the cover of the historical book incorporating many Swedish events into one page.

Thule Lodge serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. Thule Lodge has been in the southwestern New York area for 104 years, and began as a social organization for the Swedish immigrants. Thule Lodge is located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road in Bemus Point. New members are welcome to join the group.
