How to engage and motivate employees in uncertain times
Many factors influence employee productivity. The economic downturn caused concern among many employees about their job security. In addition to their concern about job security many employees have been asked to do more and more at the same rate of pay. These concerns can lead to low employee morale and decreased productivity. The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Jamestown Community College invites you to join us for an interactive workshop centered on how to diagnose engagement concerns and overcome them to increase employee productivity.
This Business Over Bagels event takes place on Thursday, March 31 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the JCC North County Training Center. The cost for Chamber members is $20, non-members $30. The cost includes a continental breakfast. To register call 363-6500.
Sustainability conference April 7
Sustainability: Benefits & Best Practices, a conference spotlighting initiatives and measures that can be implemented throughout the area, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 7 at Jamestown Community College's Jamestown Campus.
A panel discussion, breakout sessions by businesses and organizations which have instituted sustainability measures, and displays by exhibitors are among the conference features. Participants will also have the opportunity to tour JCC's new science center, the only Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certified building in Chautauqua County.
Sustainable practices that are relevant for local business, industry, municipalities, non-profits, small business, educational institutions, and manufacturing will be outlined throughout the program.

Chautauqua County Veterans Business Expo set for May 7
The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency in conjunction with the New York State Small Business Development Center at Jamestown Community College will be presenting a "Veterans Business Expo" to be held Saturday, May 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Chautauqua Suites Meeting & Expo Center in Mayville.
The "Veterans Business Expo" is a showcase of veteran owned businesses and veteran services in Chautauqua County. This free event is for current veteran business owners, prospective veteran business owners, family members, and the general public.
The CCIDA and the NYS SBDC @ JCC are requesting all Chautauqua County veteran owned businesses who would like to display his/her products or services to register for this free event. Veteran Service Agencies are also welcome to participate.
In addition to the business expo there will be informational seminars for veterans who would like to start their own business and veteran service and civic organizations will be in attendance highlighting program information.
