Share and Care holds Spring Fling Party

May 6, 2011
The OBSERVER

Share and Care Seniors held its annual Spring Fling Party on April 30 at the Fredonia Beaver Club, with 105 reservations made by local seniors. Card players arrived at 3 p.m. and the social hour with hors d'oeuvres was from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Bill Kane, accordionist and vocalist, played music for listening and dancing pleasure. A few of the favorite songs played were "Pennies from Heaven," "April Showers," and "Bye Bye Blackbird." A few dancers kicked up their heels to "In Heaven There is No Beer."

President Dorothea Janczak greeted the members and introduced the following Share and Care board members who meet monthly on a volunteer basis to plan programs for senior members: Vice President Sam Sasso, Secretary Margaret Larson, Treasurer and Membership/Party Chairperson Mayme Joy, Carolyn LoGuidice, Lucille Rizzo, Betty Klawon, Sue Walsh, Charles Mancuso, Russell Trump, Rose Cerrie and Phyllis Laurito. Also introduced was the former mayor of Fredonia and present president of the United Seniors, Charles St. George, who entertained the group with one of his favorite funny stories.

Klawon announced Share and Care plans for their annual theater bus trip on Tuesday, July 26, to the Riverside Inn (near Erie, Pa.) to see "Honky Tonk Angels," a musical comedy. The cost for Share and Care members is $69 and includes a luncheon meal, coach and all tips. The trip is $79 for non-members. Call Klawon for details at 679-0726.
