FORESTVILLE - Hank Hoisington of Forestville was recently honored as a recipient of an award at the Western New York are Labor Federation Awards dinner, held at the Hearthstone Manor in Buffalo.
He is the past president of CSEA 509 Chautauqua County New York State Department of Transportation. He has been active in the community and labor affairs for more than 40 years.
He has held various executive positions in the Dunkirk Central Labor Council and is presently vice president. He continues to support community based interest for economic and social justice.
He began his career at Bethlehem Steel as a grievance representative, later becoming chairman of the grievance committee.
Hoisington then moved to Roblin Steel Industries where he was elected to the negotiating team of the local and later elected local president. He was the 1st U.S.W.A. local president to be placed on the board of directors of a major steel-producing firm.
After the fall of steel-producing industries in the United States, Hoisington joined the public employees workforce and CSEA. Continuing his dedication to the labor movement, he was elected President of CSEA local 509 at DOT. in addition, Hoisington has held many positions in both the region and statewide committees of CSEA and DOT.
His proudest moment was when he was elected first vice president of CSEA's Western Region 6 with Flo Tripi as President.
He enjoys staying active in political issues revolving around labor. Hoisington has three children, Kimberly, Jodilyn and Hank Jr. and five grandchildren. In his spare time he loves spending time outdoors.
