The Dunkirk Elks Lodge was the setting for the 50th anniversary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Haase. The former JoAnne Cerrie and Gerald Haase exchanged wedding vows on June 3, 1961 at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia. On June 4, 2011, JoAnne and Gerald renewed their vows during the 5 p.m. Mass at their parish, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Following the Mass, a reception was held at the Elks Lodge.
Members of their wedding party in attendance were Carol Sanzo, maid of honor, and Edmund VanDenVouver, best man. Bridesmaids attending the party were Virginia VanDenVouver, Mary Woelfle and Patricia Cerrie. Groomsmen were the late Daniel Cerrie, Richard Haase Jr. and Howard Mulcahy.
The couple has resided in Dunkirk throughout their married lives. Gerald is a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. JoAnne is a homemaker and previously worked for Present Co. and Loblaws.

JoAnne and Gerald are the parents of Mrs. Douglas (Kathleen) Schwertfager, Gregory (Anne) Haase, Gary (Lori) Haase, and Paul (Chantel) Haase. The couple has 10 grandchildren: Samantha Haase, Katelyn Schwertfager, Alex Haase, Ashley Haase, Kevin Schwertfager, Matthew Haase, Schwertfager, Elisha Haase, Brandon Haase and Aiden Haase.
