Rev It Up VBS at First Baptist Church
This year's theme for the Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Church is "Rev It Up!" VBS will be held in the evenings of July 11 through 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be special classes for the entire family. The children's program is designed for those 4 through 12 years of age. There will be two adult electives. "The Race of Life" will be taught by George Pilgrim. "Parenting, a Matter of the Heart" will be led by Dr. and Mrs. Gage. Pastor Reuben Gonzales will teach a Bible class in Spanish.
While "Rev It Up!" has a race car theme, it shows kids how to go "full throttle for God." Children will learn how Jesus called his disciples and showed his power. They will learn how to run up the caution flag and end in the winner's circle. The whole family can learn how to go full speed ahead.
There will not only be Bible lessons, but race car stories, games, crafts and a while lot of fun. There will be a contest for the kids with the grand prize of a MP3 player. There will be plenty of other prizes, too. Parents are asked to come early to register their children between 5 and 5:45 p.m. on Monday, and participants should be ready to start their engines at 6 p.m.

Churches to help tornado victims

These items will be taken to tornado-ravished Alabama to assist in the recovery of whole communities who have lost everything. They invite other churches and the Northern Chautauqua community to help in this mission. They hope to fill a large truck with non-perishable food, small appliances and furniture, gently-used clothing and household goods. Items can be dropped off at 10 Lakeshore Drive West (old Images Gym building) on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2 and 5 p.m. Individuals with questions can contact the Rev.
