LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, announced Friday (July 15, 2011) that they have signed former Fredonia State Blue Devils Alex Morton and Jordan Oye for the 2011-2012 season.
Morton is 23-years-old from Cannington, Ontario. Morton played the last four seasons with the Blue Devils. He was called up for three games last season to the Ontario Reign (ECHL).
The 6'3", 209-pound left winger appeared in 26 games last year. He notched 10 goals and had 15 assists for a total of 25 points with the Blue Devils.
"I'm excited to be coming to Laredo. I have only heard good things about the players that I know who have gone down there," Morton said. "I think this is a great opportunity for me to come to a team that has a great history of winning. I am hoping to come to Laredo and chip in offensively and help the team win."
"Alex is a big kid with a lot of speed that will also put up some points for us. He was Jordan's linemate last season so they already work well together," Laredo head coach Serge Dube said.
Oye is 24-years-old from Richmond, British Columbia. Oye also played the last four seasons with the Blue Devils. The 5'11", 174-pound center appeared in 27 games last year. He scored 17 goals and had 23 assists for a total of 40 points.
"I am extremely excited to get to Laredo and get to work," Oye said. "I have heard many great things about the city, the fans and the organization. I cannot express how happy I am to have signed with the Bucks."
"Jordan is a great addition to the team this year," Dube said. "He is a smart center that will kill penalties and also some points up for us this season."
With the addition of Morton and Oye, the Bucks now have seven players signed for the 2011-2012 season.
