Churches help tornado victims

August 6, 2011
The OBSERVER

Recently, the Rev. E.G. Waller and the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church congregation in coordination with the Rev. Frank Torain, the Open Door Church of God in Christ congregation and the Rev. Leo J. Nixon and the Good Hope Baptist Church congregation embarked upon a goodwill drive soliciting clothing and small appliances for donation to families devastated by a horrendous tornado that struck their community in Birmingham, Ala., April 27.

On behalf of everyone involved, the Rev. Waller expressed gratitude to God, the local church community and all having participated in this charitable undertaking.

Special thanks were extended to Mayor Richard Frey and the City of Dunkirk for making provisions for a building to receive and hold donated items; also the Office of the Aging, and "Don" of Precision Transport, Inc., of Silver Creek, who has volunteered to transport items to the designated area.
