Dunkirk High School Sports Boosters Meeting
The Dunkirk High School Sports Boosters will hold a meeting Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 6 p.m., by the Babe Ruth field bleachers. All parents of athletes and interested community members are asked to attend.

The Far West Council of School Superintendents, which represents 19 school districts throughout Chautauqua County, hosted the second annual charity golf tournament benefiting the Outstanding Senior Student Scholarship Fund recently. The tournament raised more than $9,500 for the scholarship fund. The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding senior students in all the member districts this spring. Hammer Head Swimming
Hammer Head Swim Club registration will take place today, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the SUNY Fredonia Natatorium lobby.
A $150 deposit is due at the time of registration, with a balance of $200 to be paid by Nov. 1.
The season runs Sept. 26 to March 26, with practices Monday-Friday from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m. and swimmers can choose which days they would like to practice. New swimmers must be able swim the length of the pool and may sign up for a one-month trial for $75.

SUNY Fredonia
Open Skate
The Fredonia State softball team has scheduled two public skating sessions as part of their annual spring-trip fundraising efforts.
The team has reserved the Steele Hall Ice Arena on consecutive Friday nights - Aug. 26 and Sept. 2 - from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Admission is $1 for Fredonia State students with ID, $3 for children and other students and $4 for adults. Skates can be rented for $4 per pair.
Annual Westfield
One-Pitch Slow Pitch Softball Tourney
The Annual Westfield One-Pitch Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held Aug. 27, in Westfield, on the softball fields at NorthLake, Smith and Westfield School. Entry fees must be in by Aug. 25.
The tournament will be a double elimination format, with each batter starting with a 3-2 count. The entry fee is $150 per team. A payout based on 16 teams is $750 for first, $375 for second and $150 for third-place.
Any proceeds will go to the Mark Carlson fund and the Woody Keyser fund.

Gowanda Alumni
Football Game
The 2nd Annual Gowanda Alumni Football Game will be played Sunday, Aug. 21 at the George Dispenza Memorial Field on Broadway Road. The two-hand touch format will kickoff at 4 p.m.
All former Panther, Jet, Packer and Seahawk players ages 18 and over are invited to play in the game. A registration fee of $15 per player will include a spot in the game, a sports related gift and admittance to the post-game family picnic. All proceeds will be donated to Gowanda Youth Sports.

MAD DADS Basketball
The third annual MAD DADS 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament will take place Aug. 27 at the Wright Park basketball courts.
The tournament begins at 10 a.m., and the slam dunk contest will start at 2:30 p.m. The event is open to anyone ages 10-35.

Muay Thai Event
On Aug. 20, fight promoter partners, Castricone and RIPT MMA join forces to present, "The Redemption" Muay Thai Kickboxing bouts.
The event is scheduled to be held at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds with doors opening at 5 p.m.
Several local competitors will be on the card, including Fredonia's own, "Smokin'" Joe Pagan, as the main event.
The lineup will also consist of his son, Joey Pagan III, Cody Felt, as well as others from our area, Pennsylvania, Buffalo, Rochester, Ohio and Canada.

Adult Hockey
The CCHA Adult Hockey league will begin Aug. 26 at Fredonia State's Steele Hall.

2011 Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament
Registration is now open for the 2011 Gary Tripp Memorial Golf Tournament to be held at Shorewood Country Club on Sept. 17.
Cost of the event, $90 per golfer and $65 for Shorewood members. It will be a four-man scramble format. Included will be, registration at 10 a.m., lunch at 11 a.m., tee gifts, shotgun start at noon, 18 holes of golf with cart.
Dinner will immediately follow at the Kosciuszko Club with a choice of prime rib or chicken cordon bleu, refreshments and guaranteed prizes.
Proceeds will benefit the Gary Tripp Memorial Scholarship Fund which is given each year to a Dunkirk High senior who will be attending Jamestown Community College or State University at Fredonia.

Brocton Basketball Tournament
A 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be sponsored by the JW Dill Legion Post 434, at the Brocton-Portland Rec Center on Aug. 17. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the first games will begin promptly at 10 a.m.
All participants must be registered and have a parent/guardian permission form on file.
A minimum of five players per group is needed. The age groups are as follows: Girls 9U, 12U, 15U and 18U. Boys 9U, 12U, 15U and 18U.
