Fellowship Church Outreach for Men

Solid Rock Men's Fellowship has been birthed by the Fellowship Church. The first event was an afternoon of watching Nascar races and the Bills football game.

This group was organized to meet the spiritual and social needs of men. The group will meet in the "man-cave" (blacksmith shop) at 6389 Main Road, Portland, and is being headed by Dave Ball and Denny Carlson. A missions outreach of adopting a local family is being considered.

All men of the community ages 14-106 are welcome to attend. Call Dave at 785-1129 or Denny at 785-7656 for more information. Refreshments will be served.

On Saturday evening, a harvest party will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fellowship Church. Pizza and other food will be served. Many games will be played including pin the glasses on the pastor, she can't preach without them. Anyone who wishes is welcome to attend. For more information, or to R.S.V.P. call Cindy at 673-9385.

Trinity Luthern Church to hold harvest dinner

SILVER CREEK - Trinity Lutheran Church in Silver Creek will hold its annual Harvest Dinner on Sunday, at 5 p.m. This fellowship dinner is sponsored by the Ladies Guild and features a traditional turkey dinner. A freewill offering will be taken.

Continuing the November theme of "Thanks be to God" a Thanksgiving Eve worship service with communion will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23. Interim pastor, the Rev. Thomas Lutz will officiate. The congregation is encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the Silver Creek Food Pantry. The church is located at 15 Porter Ave.

Church of the Living Spirit

The Church of the Living Spirit will be meeting in the Assembly Hall, Cleveland Avenue in Lily Dale. The guest speaker is Victor Abbott. The Sunday at 10:30 a.m. is a healing service, meditation, messages. Monday at 7:30 p.m. is the Development Circle; Tuesday 7-9 p.m. is Spiritual Enfoldment Circle; Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. is the Community Healing, Healing Temple, East Street; Friday from 6-8 p.m. is the Mediumship Circle.

Free poetry contest

The Christian Poets Academy is sponsoring a free poetry contest open to everyone. There are 50 prizes totaling $5,000, with a $1,000 grand prize for the winner.

Poems of 21 lines or less on any subject and in any style will be judged by the contest director Jeremy Cameron.

"We love encouraging poets with cash prizes," he said. "We trust this contest will produce exciting results!"
