The Nathan George Foundation, Inc., announces the winners of the third annual Nathan George Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are awarded to two Fredonia athletes who have participated in softball or baseball and two Dunkirk athletes. Winners were selected based on essay and academic criteria, recommendations as well as community involvement.

Nathan George was a 2000 graduate of Fredonia High School. He was an all around athlete and avid baseball player. On May 3, 2009, at the age of 27, he lost his life in an automobile accident. To honor his memory and love of sports, an annual softball tournament, dinner and auction are held to benefit the Nathan George Foundation. The Foundation also helps support sports programs in need in the local communities and schools.
The Nathan George Foundation, Inc., hopes to expand the scholarships to more Chautauqua County schools in the future.
