A special Christmas program featuring a concert and a play will be presented free of charge on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House, located at 9 Church St. in the village.
"We Wish You a Merry Christmas" will be presented by the First United Methodist Church Fredonia in association with Trinity Episcopal Church and the 1891 Fredonia Opera House. The program includes a concert featuring Vivaldi's "Violin Concert in F Minor: L'inverno" and Camille Saint-Saens' "Oratorio De Noel." The concert includes community performers as well as students from SUNY Fredonia's School of Music.
After the concert, the program concludes with a performance of Barbra Robinson's "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." The play tells the tale of The Herdmans, a group of youngsters who have the reputation of being the "worst kids in the history of the world." The Herdmans invade church one Sunday and take over the planning for the annual Christmas pageant. While everyone expects the worst when the pageant is staged, there are surprises for all in the end.
A free will offering to benefit the 1891 Fredonia Opera House will be accepted.
