School 5 helps students become role models

December 11, 2011
The OBSERVER

The Dunkirk City School District is participating in the research-based program, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.). The goal of P.B.I.S is creating safer and more effective schools through positive reinforcement, helping to create a more positive environment where all students can learn and achieve important social and learning goals. School 5 staff and students constantly work on defining, teaching, modeling and reinforcing appropriate student behaviors.

School 5 has three school-wide expectations of "Be respectful, be responsible, be safe." The following students have on at least one occasion, over the course of the school year so far, been outstanding role models of one or all of the School 5 expectations.
