Panel is another outlet for citizens

December 29, 2011
By DANNY McGILL , The OBSERVER

On behalf of the City of Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) we would like to take the opportunity to thank all the elected and appointed officials in the city, with special thanks to those leaving elected office.

We thank them for their input, understanding, and guidance to our organization and the city in general. All of us played a part in doing our jobs to try to make our city a better place for all.

Good dialogue and working together is what we all strive for and the Citizens Advisory Committee appreciates the effort given by all in explaining questions we may have had in the past so we may discuss and recommend for the future.

The purpose and mission of the Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Committee is to meet and discuss issues of concern and offer suggestions and ideas to the Common Council and mayor for the betterment of the residents of Dunkirk.

The Committee serves as another set of eyes and ears for neighborhood concerns and emerging issues in the city of Dunkirk.

The CAC performs in a positive and collaborative manner gathering information and formulating opinions, advice, non-binding recommendations and suggestions of local concern to the elected officials.

The CAC acts only in an advisory capacity to the City Council and administration and will provide a forum if requested for consideration of specific city plans, projects, programs or services for review and comment by the mayor, council or other official boards or commissions of the city.

Once again we thank all our elected officials for their service to our community and hope they continue to reach out with their ideas and suggestions to continue to make our city prosper.

Danny McGill is corresponding secretary for the Dunkirk Citizens Advisory Committee
