The November Fredonia Kiwanis Students of the Month are Sean Pecuch and Margaret Foley.
Margaret Foley is the daughter of Ellen and Scott Foley. She is currently a senior at Fredonia High School. Margaret has been on honor roll throughout high school and has taken mainly advanced and AP courses. She also participates in the 3-1-3 program through Fredonia State. In June Margaret will be graduating with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors.
She has been involved with several different sports throughout her high school career. In her freshmen and sophomore years she earned a varsity letter and a coach's award for soccer. She also ran as part of the indoor track team. Her junior and senior year she ran for the cross country and earned both a JV and Varsity letter. Margaret has always had a passion for music.

Since she was little she has played piano and has participated in the Guild program. She has also participated in choir since elementary school and has been a member of Madrigals since junior year. Beginning in third grade, she acted in four FHS musicals: "Les Miserables," "Into the Woods," "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Godspell." She said she looks forward to her fifth and final musical this spring, "Fiddler on the Roof."
Margaret has been a member of student council throughout high school and she is currently serving as student council president. This past year she was a Quest junior leader and traveled to the New York State Council on Leadership and Student Activities conference held in Buffalo. This past summer Margaret was also one of the Fredonia delegates at Empire Girls State representing American Legion Auxiliary 59.
Margaret is very active in the community. This fall she participated in the FHS Annual Sleep Out for the Homeless, which helped benefit Rural Ministries, walked in the Nate Polisoto Memorial Walk, volunteered at the Brooks Memorial Auxiliary Spaghetti Dinner and led student council and elementary classes in making placemats for Meals on Wheels. After graduating this June, Margaret plans to attend the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse. She plans to major in environmental biology.
Sean Pecuch, a senior at Fredonia High School, is the son of Robert and Patricia Pecuch of Fredonia. Sean currently ranks in the top 10 of his class. He has been a member of the Fredonia Cross Country team during high school, as well as a member of the golf team.
Music has always been important to Sean. He has taken several years of private piano lessons and reached the state level at Guild Recitals, as well as taken private drum and mallet lessons. He has been in the school's band and chorus since elementary school. Sean has been in the advanced music program for band all four years in high school and has participated in the annual NYSSMA solo fests each year, most recently receiving a 100 on a Level 6 mallet solo. Sean also attended All County Music Festival for seven years, participated in Area All State Band for two years, and was chosen as an alternate for the NY All State Band Festival this past fall.
Sean has been involved with Fredonia's Drama and Musical productions since seventh grade, serving on stage crew, pit band, and as lighting designer. He served as his freshman class treasurer and a class advisor during his sophomore year. Currently he is a class advisor. He has been a Jr. Leader for Fredonia School's QUEST backpacking club for several years.
Sean enjoys photography and is currently on the staff of the school newspaper, The Spectator, as well being one of the yearbook editors. Sean has won two gold awards for best sports photo and gold for best photographer from the Empire State School Press Association, Syracuse University. Sean is also a BSA Eagle Scout. He loves the outdoors, and enjoys hiking, biking, hunting, and fishing. He enjoys landscaping and works part time for an area landscaping business. Currently, he works as a sports photographer for the OBSERVER.
He also enjoys being part of the Fredonia Fire Department Explorers Post. Sean is an active member of the Zion and Grace Lutheran Church, and enjoys various volunteer opportunities in his community.
His plans are to attend SUNY at Potsdam to major in Environmental Studies and Lighting Design.
