Three Jamestown residents charged with drug offenses

JAMESTOWN - The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the City of Jamestown Police charged Ulus C. Battle, 25, of 146 Barrows St. Carman Lopez, 17, of 150 Barrows St. and Jason D. Johnson, 24, of 172 Barrows St. with drug-related offenses.

The Task Force and the City of Jamestown Police executed a search warrant Friday that had been issued earlier by Jamestown City Court Judge LaMancuso. During the course of the initial entry into 146 Barrows St. by the SWAT team, a pit bull attacked officers and was put down. Battle and Lopez were taken into custody inside the residence.

Battle was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Agents allege Battle has been selling crack cocaine from the residence on several occasions. When the residence was searched the team reportedly found a quantity of marijuana, crack cocaine and a large cache of U.S. currency. Battle was charged with an additional count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Lopez was charged with one count each of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Prior to the end of the search, officers observed Jason Johnson exiting a taxi near the residence. The officers had an arrest warrant charging Johnson with one count each third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Car Fire in Sheridan

SHERIDAN - On Sunday at 4 p.m. the Sheri-dan Fire Department reported to a residence near the intersection of Center Road and Route 5 for a car fire.

According to Mike Keddie, second assistant fire chief, a 1997 GMC Yukon was fully involved when the firefighters arrived. The car was parked at the residence and no one was inside. There were no injuries. No further investigation will be conducted.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office

On Sunday, Robin Diers, 30, of 19 Mill St. in Brocton, was charged with second-degree unlicensed operation, operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device installed, unlicensed operation, and speed in zone by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's office.

Deputies stopped Diers for reportedly speeding on Webster Road in Pomfret. A check reportedly revealed that her driver's license had been revoked due to a previous driving while intoxicated charge. Because of this charge, Diers had a restriction on her license requiring her to have an interlock device installed. The officers reported that she did not have this device installed on the vehicle she was operating.

She was arraigned in the Town of Pomfret Court where bail was set in the amount of $1,000 cash or $2,000 property. Diers was able to post bail and was later released from court.

Woman charged with promoting prison

MAYVILLE - On Saturday, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office charged Dorothy Freeman of Westfield with first-degree promoting prison contraband.

Deputies were called to the Chautauqua County Jail to investigate the incident. It was alleged Freeman had brought contraband into the facility during visitation.

She was taken into custody and arraigned on the charge, a class D felony. Freeman was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
