Sheriff Deputies respond to semi rollover
On Friday at 2 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff deputies and Ripley Rescue were dispatched to a tractor trailer accident on Route 5 in the town of Ripley. Investigation into the incident showed Lowell Farmer, 71, of Ohio was operating his semi hauling a load of wood westbound on Route 5 when he lost control and left the north side of the road. The semi went into a ditch and over turned. Members of the Ripley Rescue and Sheriff deputies assisted in removing Farmer from the semi but no injuries were reported.

Scott L. Laurito, 29, of Brocton was charged with driving while intoxicated, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, having a BAC of .08 or greater, disobeying a stop sign and having a loud exhaust on Jan. 13. At 12:41 a.m. Sheriff's Patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of Hartfield Stockton Road in the town of Chautauqua. The operator was identified as Laurito. Following an investigation, Laurito was charged for DWI. Laurito was also allegedly in possession of a narcotic prescription drug for which he did not possess a prescription for. Laurito was processed and released on appearance tickets for Chautauqua Town Court.
