Dunkirk native receives award

Dr. Clayton Polowy was the recipient of the 2011 Mending Hands Award. Polowy, an oncologist residing in Scottsdale, Ariz., was honored for his achievement at the Giving Hands Ball in November at the Arizona Grand Resort.

The Mending Hands Award winner is selected based on patient nominations. Polowy's letter of nomination was from a patient he had treated and helped through a difficult battle with cancer. The letter was filled with praise for his unwavering support, his skill, kindness and commitment to his duty as a doctor.

Polowy is a 1990 graduate of Dunkirk High School. He joined Desert Oncology Associates in Arizona in 2004 in his second year at Banner Desert Medical Center.
