Parents praise officials for work

January 22, 2012
The OBSERVER

By BILL and SHANNON MATTESON

Thank you so much for everything our entire community and law-enforcement departments did in our daughter's kidnapping case.

We realize the performance Fredonia Police Department displayed is above average and realize now why we moved into the village a few years ago. Fredonia is a safe and family-oriented area to raise a family. Even after all we encountered we feel even safer.

Our daughter will continue to flourish in the village and continues to hold straight A's in school. No one person can be thanked individually for the success on the conviction of Corey Kimmy but be sure to share your thanks and gratitude to the detectives and officers who worked on the case from Fredonia and the county Sheriff's Department. Although not all the details were mentioned in trial, we are happy with the results.

We hope that someday in the near future we can all get together and offer recognition for the valuable efforts and for all who were involved. We are just amazed on the rapid results in this case.

Even though it has been eight months, the time has gone quickly. We also wish to give a special thanks to employees in the district attorney's office for their professional care and personal touch as advocates for our daughter. They were right by her side the entire time and need to be acknowledged for their efforts and sincere passion in aiding in the final result on all young victims.

To the community - those of you who know us realize the emotions and stress such an accordance may create in our everyday life. We have struggled and will continue to keep safety concern a priority, not only for our children but for all children surrounding.

God has placed children in our lives so we may help them grow into fine young adults and to carry on our legacy with their families later on. I wish to state to all parents, young and old, take the time now to share the love and joy each individual child possesses and never take advantage of who is in your life today. These years will pass quicker than you expect.

I wish to further thank our daughter for her faith in us, God and the law enforcement. She has convinced Shannon and I 100 percent that we have raised her properly and her trust and love to us is beyond words. Thank you sweetie ... from Mommy and Daddy ... oh and from Cameron who is her biggest pain in the butt brother at 2 years old.

Bill and Shannon Matteson are Fredonia residents.
