Chautauqua Lake's perfect season came to an end on Monday night, thanks to a double-double performance by Maple Grove's Jen Prechtl and a strong fourth quarter as the Lady Red Dragons pulled off the upset with a 51-42 victory in Division 3 girls basketball.
Prechtl netted 20 points and led in rebounds with 23 to set the pace for her team.
Both teams battled all game long with the Lady Thunderbirds (8-1, 12-1) holding just a one-point advantage at the end of the first half, but Maple Grove (6-2, 8-6) managed to take a slim 2-point lead at the end of the third, 38-36.

"This one was close all the way," Maple Grove coach Chris Johnson said. "We had just a four or five-point lead halfway through the fourth quarter."
In that final period, Maple Grove outscored the Lady Thunderbirds, 13-6, with the key shot being a huge layup by Lauren Nickerson.
"We played zone defense the whole game and adjusted as needed," Johnson said. "The girls had good communication all night, knowing where their scorers were. I'm proud of them. It was a win, based on their effort."
Molly Beaton also produced 13 points for the winners and eight rebounds with nine steals while Nickers and Liddell each had eight rebounds.
For Chautauqua Lake, Jenna Einink poured in 13 points and had six blocks, Tara Hunt had eight points and four steals, Jill Einink pulled down 10 rebounds with four assists and Ashton Albanesius added seven rebounds.

Ellicottville 41, Pine?Valley 40
SOUTHDAYTON - Ashley Golley hit a short jumper with just 15 seconds remaining in overtime to give Ellicottville (7-2, 9-6) a 41-40 win over Pine Valley (5-4, 8-7).
After that bucket by Golley, Pine Valley got three shots off with two offensive rebounds, but failed to get the tie-breaking basket.
Pine Valley held a 17-11 edge at halftime as it held Ellicottville to just two points in the first quarter. A 24-18 final two quarters enabled Ellicottville to send the game into overtime tied at 35-35.
In the extra period, Ellicottville held a 6-5 edge but a 3-pointer by Kyleen Hamilton of Pine Valley with 33 seconds left put the hosts ahead briefly, 40-39. That set the stage for the final wild 15 seconds.
Janae Hamilton and Maddie Szpaicher were high for the Lady Eagles with 15 points each. Hamilton grabbed 19 rebounds.
Kyleen Hamilton scored 14 points and Carlye Swanson nine for Pine Valley. Hamilton Swanson had 12 rebounds and five steals while Hamilton added five assists and two steals.
Franklinville 42,?Westfield 39
FRANKLINVILLE - Linnea Pollack hit game-winning 3-pointer with 10 seconds left to give Franklinville (3-13, 1-9) a 42-39 win over Westfield (5-10, 1-8).
Westfield had a decent look at 3-pointer to tie, but it missed.
Franklinville led for most of the game, but Westfield took the lead in the fourth quarter and once led by five.
Lynn Wood of the Lady Wolverines had a three-point play to tie the game at 39 with 1:04 left.
Pfieffer led the winners with 17 points and Brittney Oyler had 10 rebounds and four assists.
Brianna Hunt had 10 points and nine rebounds for Westfield. Wood also had 10 points and Deanna Rammelt grabbed eight rebounds.
