Shrove Tuesday supper

Trinity Episcopal Church will hold its annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The annual supper will take place in the renovated Garland Hall behind the sanctuary of Trinity at 11 Day St. in Fredonia.

Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Day) is the day preceding Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Pancakes are eaten on Shrove Tuesday as they are made out of the foods whose consumption is traditionally restricted during the ritual fasting associated with Lent.

Trinity's pancake supper will serve sausage, fruit cocktail, juice and coffee in addition to pancakes. Adult tickets cost $6 and children are $4; tickets are available at the door.

Ash Wednesday service

St. Paul Lutheran Church at 334 Temple St., Fredonia, will be having their traditional Ash Wednesday Holy Communion Service on Wednesday at 7 p.m. This will begin the Lenten season of solemn worship and prayers leading up to Easter Sunday. The community is welcome to attend and join in Christian Fellowship.

Movie night set

The film "Courageous" will be shown Sunday night, Feb. 26, at Lake Shore Chapel. The film is about four men, one calling: to serve and protect. When tragedy strikes home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, fears, faith and fathering. Protecting the streets is second nature. Raising their children in a God honoring way? That's courageous.

The film is free for all who attend. The church is located at 4552 W. Main St. in Fredonia. For more information, call 985-5810.

Breakfast with a prayer

The Fredonia First United Methodist Church Prayer Ministry Team will have a prayer and breakfast workshop on Saturday, Feb. 25, featuring the Rev. Dr. Roy L. Miller from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Topics will be "Building our House of Prayer" and "Urgency in Prayer." Pre-registration is required and the cost is $10 which includes breakfast, workshop and materials. Call 679-1513 to pre-register.

The church's Ash Wednesday service will be held at 7 p.m.
