Rick Santorum not ideal candidate

March 7, 2012
The OBSERVER

Editor, OBSERVER:

To use my brother's favorite saying, "What's wrong with this picture?" The candidates running for office have all knocked Mitt Romney pretty bad. Is it because he is Mormon or because they are afraid of him?

Why is all the attention given to Rick Santorum? Is he the only hope of the Conservatives? At the time he was in office, we lived in Pennsylvania in his district. Do not the people know he was not elected, but hand-picked to serve out another term. The main thing I remember about him was his remark that he did not vote for what his constituents wanted, but rather voted the way he thought things should be.

I guess the people in his district had no minds of their own. How come no one is looking at his record in Pennsylvania? With him in the White House, we would not have a leader, but another puppet for the ultra-Conservatives. No tax for the rich, no help for the masses and we would be farther in debt than George W. Bush was. He would probably pick Dick Cheney, the puppet master as his running mate.

He wants to cut Social Security benefits to save money. My wife and I worked many years, paying Social Security so we would have some benefits when we retired. Santorum has no feelings for the people who have built this country by hard work. He seems to think we were given a free ride. No one gave us any help or handouts throughout our working years.

We need a man in the White House who will be sensitive to his constituents, not someone who feels he knows more than the people he represents. We've had enough of those individuals already.
