Twenty years ago - 1992

Heather Sternisha, a senior at Gowanda Central High School, has been selected Student of the Week. She is the daughter of Mrs. Rebecca Troutman of Perrysburg and Carl Sternisha of Gowanda. Heather has been the school's Empire Girls State representative and serves as co-editor of the school newspaper and editor of the yearbook. She is the president of the Gowanda High School American Field Service and hopes to pursue a major in international business at Colgate University.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Employed by the OBSERVER 25 years on March 7, Mrs. Nancy Lewandowski was honored when she was presented with a cake and a monetary gift within a card signed by her co-workers. She has been employed in the circulation department since 1957, currently as assistant to Mark Woods.

Forty years ago - 1972

Miss Winifred Budd, who is beginning her 50th year of teaching, was honored recently by the Northern Chautauqua County Council of PTA and the Forestville Central PTA.

Every Wednesday evening, Surf & Turf is $5.50 at the Fireside Manor.

Fifty years ago - 1962

A last-second shot by lanky senior Al Muck gave Forestville Central School's basketball squad a 60-59 victory over Ripley. By virtue of the win, FCS retains the Class C championship.
