Twenty years ago - 1992

Ralph "Bucky" Phillips of Stockton was still being sought by Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies in connection with outstanding drug sale warrants. Phillips apparently eluded a police manhunt in the Stockton area last week, fled to Ohio in a stolen vehicle over the weekend, then stole another to return here. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Bill Dill, OBSERVER city hall reporter, was at School 5 recently to talk to Mrs. Lenore Fiebelkorn's third-grade class on "Newspaper Reporting." Mr. Dill explained the elements of good reporting, including "being on top of the news." Following his talk, the reporter was "interviewed" by the pupils.

Forty years ago - 1972

The Fifty-Five-Plus Senior Citizens Club of Dunkirk has voted to change its name to the Lake Shore Senior Citizens Club.

Fifty years ago - 1962

Joseph Granto of Dunkirk left for Washington, D.C., where he will attend a conference on occupational safety called by President John F. Kennedy. Mr. Granto will represent the Dunkirk Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
