Priests Appreciation Dinner set for April 29

March 17, 2012
The OBSERVER

The Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Cardinal Mindszenty, Assembly 727, together with Council's 929, Dunkirk, 7921 Fredonia, 15113 Gowanda, 5356 Silver Creek and 3100 Westfield are again hosting its 14th annual Priests Appreciation Dinner. This year's event will again be held at St. Anthony's Parish Center, Cushing Street, Fredonia on Sunday, April 29, with cocktails and hors d' oeuvres at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The Knights of Columbus host this special event every year to honor all priests for their dedicated services to the parishes as well as to the communities. They recognize the decrease in the vocation of priesthood and the additional burden it has put on each priest's shoulders, but continue to undertake the challenges without any complaints. Today, many priests are taking care of two or three parishes. Years ago there were two to three priests serving a single parish.

It is the intention of the Knights of Columbus members, together with the general public, to acknowledge and thank them for their untiring efforts as they take on more and more responsibilities, duties and activities to fulfill the needs of their parishioners.

The K-C members are encouraging the laity to take time to say "thank you" to dedicated priests in a special way for all those blessings. This celebration is specifically for that reason. The combined area councils are proud and happy to be able to salute the local priests with the utmost admiration, respect and appreciation for the guidance, leadership, and love with which they serve.

This event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased from any member of the Knights of Columbus. For further information and reservations, contact Charles St. George, faithful purser of Cardinal Mindszenty Assembly 727, at 672-4432.
