Twenty years ago - 1992

Julianne Janisch, a junior at Silver Creek Central School, left recently for a one-year study program in Tokyo. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Janisch of Hanover Road, Silver Creek. At the top of her class scholastically, Juli was one of 10 students in New York state selected for one-year scholarships in a program sponsored by American Field Service Intercultural Programs and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Noting that at least two potential developers have cut their ties with the city of Dunkirk due to a recent letter they received from the Dunkirk Citizens Action Board, Mayor Edwin Gregoreski said today he is thinking about looking into possible legal action against the group. The city may have to stand in line, however, as the Dunkirk Housing Authority is meeting with its trial counsel today to also consider legal action against the group concerning the letter.

Forty years ago - 1972

The first HERO (Home Economics-Related Occupations) organization in New York has been organized at the North BOCES Occupational Center. HERO is an outgrowth of FHA.

Fifty years ago 1962

Robert H. Hurley of Fredonia has been appointed director of the Chautauqua County Veterans Service Agency.
