Dunkirk Spring Sports meeting
There will be a short informational meeting presented by Dunkirk Athletic Director Al Gens for parents of Spring athletes who are participating on any Dunkirk Marauder athletic team Thursday, March 29 in the Dunkirk High School Auditorium at 6 p.m.

Alex and Nicholas Jones competed in the NYWAY youth wrestling tournament in Ithaca this past weekend. Alex took home the second-place medal in his division, and Nick was crowned the heavyweight champion of the 11-12-year-old group. Nick will compete in the Empire Brute Nationals in Brockport on April 14.
Moose Club Thursday
Night Golf League
There will be an organizational meeting on Saturday, March 31, for the Moose Club Thursday Night Golf League, which is played at Sugar Hill Golf Course. The meeting will begin at 2 p.m., at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge.
New golfers are welcome. Call Rick Mazurek at 366-6835 with questions, or if you intend to play, but are unable to be at the meeting.
Brocton/Portland Babe Ruth
Tryouts for 13-15 Brocton/Portland Babe Ruth baseball will be held Saturday, March 31 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Brocton Central School Elementary gymnasium rain or shine.
Players should bring a glove and a copy of their birth certificate and be 13, 14 or 15 years of age as of April 30, 2012.

"Game Time" Basketball
Camp at Fredonia State
The men's basketball team at Fredonia State will be hosting its third annual "Game Time" basketball camp April 9-13. The camp will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon daily and is open for both boys and girls ages 9-15.
The camp will include daily instruction in ball handling, shooting, defense and passing with the focus on 3-on-3, half-court games and daily 5-on-5 team competition.
"With a lot of the local schools off for spring break this week, we are offering a fun, competitive, action-packed week of basketball for all skill levels" Kevin Moore, Fredonia State basketball coach said.
The camp will be instructed by Moore along with his staff and players.
The cost of the camp is $80 for the week and all campers get a complimentary camp T-shirt. Walk-up registrations will be taken at the door Monday, April 9, starting at 9 a.m.

Women Who Golf4Fun
The season will begin for the women on Wednesday, May 2, at Hillview. Tee-off is scheduled for 10 a.m.
The league is open to women golfers of all kinds.
A short meeting and a "Dutch Treat Pizza Party" will be held after golf.

Former Thursday Night Men's League to hold meeting
An organizational meeting for the former Thursday Night Men's Golf League at Sugar Hill Golf Course will be held Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m.
The meeting will be held at the golf course for all golfers interested in the new league, which will be played on Wednesdays, beginning May 2.
Anyone interested in joining an established league is encouraged to contact Dan Griffin at 785-7546, or Sugar Hill at 326-4653.
Scoring Goals to Fight Cancer
The Second Annual KC/Paper Factory Floor Hockey Tournament will be held March 31 at the Dunkirk Recreation Center. The cost is $25 per person for a six-person team. Participants must 16 years of age or older.
It is a 3-on-3 format with three games guaranteed. There will be prizes for first, second and third place.

High School Baseball Showcase
Chautauqua Lake Central School, with the assistance of the Chautauqua County Baseball Umpires' Association, will once again sponsor the High School Baseball Showcase, April 27-28, at Russell E. Diethrick Park in Jamestown.
This is the sixth year of the resurrection of the showcase, which was conceived in the 1980s. The event will feature 12 teams from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, in a schedule of six games over the two-day period.
The showcase gives local high school players an opportunity to play in a professional baseball stadium, with the potential to be seen by college coaches, whom have been notified about the event.

A gate fee of $1 for students (K-12) and senior citizens and $2 for adults, will be charged to help Chautauqua Lake baseball, as well as to help add to the Umpires' Association Baseball Scholarship Fund. The gate fee will also go to help offset some of the costs of operating the event.
All umpires working games during the weekend will be donating their game fees back to the association to be put into their scholarship fund.
NCSA Registrations
Registration for the spring travel season of the Northern Chautauqua Soccer Association (NCSA) remains open until Friday, April 6. The travel club known as NC Concord competes in the Southern Tier Travel Soccer League (STTSL). This year, the club will field teams in the U10 Co-ed, U12, and U14, as well as U17 Boys and Girls divisions.
Players are still needed for the U10 Co-ed, U12 Girls and Boys divisions, and the U14 Boys division. Player openings in the U14 Girls, U17 Girls and U17 Boys division are available on a limited basis.
Registration fees are $85 for the U10 co-ed and U12 division and $100 for U14 and U17 divisions. There is a $60 uniform fee for new players only. Need based scholarships are available on a limited basis with forms available online at www.myncsa.com. Mail or drop off completed forms with payment at 103 Gardner St.,Fredonia, N.Y. 14063.
The STTSL was established in 1991 to fill a need for a more competitive program than the summer recreational model for committed, talented youth soccer players. Teams from Chautauqua County participate as well as teams from Erie and Cattaraugus counties and Bradford, Pennsylvania. Last year, both the NC Concord U14 Boys and U14 Girls teams won their division championship games held at the Town of Ellery Park and hosted by the Bemus Area Youth Soccer Organization (BAYSO).
Bi-weekly practices for travel soccer begin indoors in March and outdoors as soon as the weather permits. Games are typically held on Sunday afternoons beginning in early May and concluding with the playoff tournament at the end of June. Plans are under way for all NC Concord teams to participate in a tournament in June.
Highlights of the STTSL include the STAR program, in which a patch is awarded to one player per team each game for the star qualities of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude and Respect. STAR patch recipients are selected by their opponents at the end of each game. In addition, the league has created a zero tolerance policy for players, coaches and spectators in order to promote positive interactions with officials and everyone attending a game. Group Fitness Classes and Swim lessons
Chautauqua Health and Fitness, located at the Turner Community Center at Chautauqua Institution on Route 394, Chautauqua, is offering several group exercise classes and Saturday morning swim lessons beginning in April.
Classes include Zumba Fitness, Yoga-Vinyasa Krama, kickboxing for all skill levels, a high-intensity Boot Camp class, Hatha Yoga, Introduction to Ballroom Dance and a Water Workout class in the Turner Community Pool.
Also offered are two American Red Cross programs: Parent & Child Aquatics, for parents with children ages 6 months to 5 years old, and Learn-To-Swim, for children ages 6 and older. All classes will run for eight weeks.
