BOCES open for Dunkirk students this week

While the Dunkirk City School District will be off for Spring Vacation from today through April 13, BOCES will be in session today through Thursday.

Transportation will be provided by the District for students who wish to attend. It is highly recommended that students attend.

A new flashing crosswalk sign is now highly visible in the center of Fredonia reminding drivers to yield to pedestrians or face a fine of $180.

The departure times will be at the normal scheduled times of: Morning bus departure at 8:55 a.m. and afternoon departure at 11:50 a.m. in the front parking lot of the Dunkirk High School.

Students will not be permitted in the High School building.

Cassadaga Valley Central School to hold budget and board vote

The annual budget vote for the Cassadaga Valley Central School District will be held on May 15 from 2 to 8 p.m.

In addition, voters will elect a candidate for one board of education seat. This is a five-year term from July 1 through June 30, 2017.

The incumbent is William Carlson. Carlson has stated his intent to seek re-election.

Petitions are available in the District Clerk's Office Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day other than Saturday, Sunday or holiday. Petitions fulfilling the requirements of Section 2018 of the Education Law nominating candidates must be filed with the clerk of the district by April 13.

Village of South Dayton looking for vendors

The South Dayton Village Board is interested in hosting a Saturday morning Farmer's Market in the village square starting in July until late fall. They are looking for vendors with fruits, vegetables, eggs, jams, baked goods, etc.

There will be no set up charge. Farmers, gardeners, crafters or anyone interested in participating in the Farmer's Market, call Karen Strickland at 988-5076.
