NYS Women, Inc., Chadwick Bay Chapter, met recently at the White Inn in Fredonia. President Carlene Pawlak presented Kanisha James and Ashley Cross with educational awards. Both will be graduate this May - James from Fredonia State University, majoring in graphic arts, and Cross from Jamestown Community Collage in the nursing program. Each recipient gave a presentation about how they chose their field of study and their future plans.
Earlier, the group, together with Lake Shore Chapter, hosted an annual Get Away Weekend at the Clarion Hotel. Because of its success, plans are already being made for next year's event.
In addition, the group celebrated Mardi Gras at Rookie's on the Lake. Dr. Jennifer Foley was the guest speaker, addressing the connection between oral health and its effect on the human body, especially heart disease and diabetes.

Future plans include choosing new officers for the 2012-2013 year, gift distribution to an area nursing home, a picnic this summer and a possible health seminar in the fall.
