Lake Shore Savings plans homebuyer seminar on Thursday
A free home buyer seminar will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Shore Savings Bank's Fredonia branch at 30 E. Main St.
Topics for the seminar include: understanding credit scores, prequalifying for a mortgage, applying for a mortgage, down payment requirements, closing costs, available mortgage products and programs.
Presenter for the seminar will be Patty Bertges, mortgage originator.
Refreshments will be provided along with a drawing for a free application certificate worth $225.

Prepare for busy holiday weekend
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations reminds travelers planning cross border trips this holiday weekend to make sure they have the proper documents and to plan for a possible increase in traffic. CBP officials want to inform the traveling public that there are a number of steps that can be taken to facilitate their arrival into the United States.
Travelers should check traffic conditions at the four border crossings within the Buffalo/Niagara region and select the crossing that is least congested. Red Cross helps fire victims in Sinclairville
The Southwestern NY American Red Cross Disas-ter Action Team (DAT) responded to provide disaster relief following a house fire in Sinclairville March 3.
DAT volunteer Doug Justham of Jamestown was on scene to provide the initial disaster assistance. Temporary housing, clothing, and meals are services typically offered to address emergency needs. The local Red Cross chapter will continue working with the family of four and their recovery process if additional services or referrals are necessary. All disaster assistance offered by the American Red Cross is complimentary and made possible by contributions from the Ameri-can people and residents of Chautauqua County.
City Hall closed Friday
Dunkirk City Hall will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday. There will be no change in the rubbish pickup schedule. Rubbish will be picked up in District D on Friday as usual.
Laona Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Laona Easter egg hunt will be held Saturday at the Laona playground/community park starting at 10 a.m. The annual bunny raffle's proceeds will be used for the annual Halloween event. The tickets are three for $1. There will be a basket for everyone. The Easter bunny helper will be there as well.
