Catt County man charged with sex crimes

SALAMANCA After an investigation by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office, a man has been charged with several counts of sex abuse involving a minor female from the time she was 4 years old until age 14.

Kenneth P. Crawford, 44, of Killbuck, was charged with second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child under 11 years old, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and criminal contempt.

Crawford was arraigned in the Town of Salamanca Court and released on his own recognizance to appear in Redhouse Town Court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office

RIPLEY On Friday, a man was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI) and several other charges in the Town of Ripley. Around 9 p.m., George Whiteneck, 21, of Union City, Pa., was stopped for not using a turn signal and for having a loud exhaust. Further investigation led to the charges of failure to use turn signal, loud muffler, cracked windshield, unsafe tires, open container, DWI and blood alcohol content (BAC) over .08 percent. Whiteneck and his passenger, Pamela Wegmiller, 21, also of Union City, were both issued tickets for having two open containers of alcohol inside a motor vehicle. Both were later released with appearance tickets.

POMFRET On Saturday, a Brocton man was arrested for DWI and other charges in the Town of Pomfret. Around 2:30 a.m., Rudy Ryen, 35, of Brocton, was stopped on Route 20 in the Town of Pomfret for crossing over the center lane markings. After an investigation, Ryen was charged with failure to keep right, DWI and BAC of .08 percent or more. Ryen was released to appear in Town of Pomfret Court at a later date.

Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office

SOUTH DAYTON On Monday, the Cattaraugus county Sheriff's Office arrested Codi Ertell, 20, with no known address, on a warrant issued from the South Dayton Village Court charging him with petit larceny. Ertell was arraigned in the South Dayton Village Court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County jail without bail to appear for charges on April 19.
