John M. Gullo, 130 W. Fifth St., Dunkirk, a victim of muscular dystrophy, has been an avid fan of the space shuttle Columbia and its missions. Because John was unable to speak on the phone, his brother Joe made the telephone call to Cape Canaveral just nine hours before liftoff.

Forty years ago - 1972
