Legislator Dixon announces April shopping days for prom dress drive

Legislator Lynne Dixon reminds high school girls of the opportunity to "shop" for a free prom dress later this month. The dates for this year's Prom Dress Drive Shopping Days are 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 19 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 at Hamburg High School.

All the dresses available were generously donated by members of the community. Urban Valet donated its resources to clean every single dress, getting it into pristine condition and ready to be selected.

Spring Egg Hunt set for saturday

The Spring Egg Hunt will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on President Hefner's lawn, 194 Central Ave., Fredonia. The event is hosted by Delta Chi.

There will be crafts for children, prizes and a visit from special guests Mr. Bunny, Mr. Carrot and Mr. Mad Hatter (bring a camera). In case of rain, the event will be held in Fenton Hall on campus.

Jamestown Community College's summer 2012 master schedule of credit courses is now available. The schedule outlines day and evening courses as well as online learning opportunities at JCC's Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses and North County and Warren centers. Education conference on leukemia April 24

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the leading source of information and support for patients battling blood cancer, is offering a free educational conference titled New Insights & Treatments for Leukemia on April 24 at The White Inn, 52 E. Main St. Fredonia, with registration from 5:30 to 6 p.m. followed by a complimentary dinner and the program from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The program will feature Eunice Wang, M.D., Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Dr. Wang will discuss new and emerging therapies for chronic and acute leukemia and the role of clinical trials in the advancement of leukemia treatments. A question and answer period will follow.
