Twenty years ago - 1992

The Rev. David L. Goodine was recently installed as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fredonia. A graduate of Michigan State University and Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., Rev. Goodine's last assignment was in Nigeria, West Africa.

Thirty years ago - 1982

Robert Newcomb, a senior at Silver Creek Central School, has been selected Student of the Week. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Newcomb of Hanover Road, Silver Creek. Best known for his basketball ability, Robert was the leading scorer as well as the leading rebounder, and was selected Most Valuable Player on the varsity basketball team. A Regents scholarship winner, he ranks second in his class. After graduation, he plans to study microelectronic engineering, most likely at RIT.

Forty years ago - 1972

A new Lake Shore Association for the Arts has been formed and is advised by Jesse G. Wright, director of the art gallery at the Michael C. Rockefeller Arts Center at Fredonia State University College.

Fifty years ago - 1962

A meeting to organize a 4-H club was held at the Exempt Firemen's Association clubrooms, Central Avenue, Dunkirk. County 4-H agent M.J. Hencle and Mrs. Richard Palmer of Urban Road, Dunkirk were in charge.
