Glenn E. Swanson

RANDOLPH - Glenn Everett Swanson, 91, of Mill Street, Randolph, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the White County Hospital in Sparta, Tenn.

He was born April 29, 1920 in Forestville, NY, the son of the late Gifford and Dorcus Clement Swanson.

Mr. Swanson was a graduate of Forestville Central School and a Veteran of the United States Navy, where he had served during WWII from April 29, 1944 until his Honorable discharge on December 20, 1945.

He was a retired maintenance supervisor for JN Adam Developmental Center in Perrysburg. In earlier years, he had been employed by the former National Furniture in Jamestown and had owned and operated a Dairy Farm in Conewango Valley.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Randolph. Glenn enjoyed reading, gardening, spending time on the farm and was a devoted man of God, who spent time in the word and praying for family members, whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by three sons, David G. Swanson of Walling, Tenn., Melvin J. Swanson of Carver, Minnesota and John A. Swanson of Forestville; three daughters, Violet Campbell of Randolph, Ruth Heath of South Dayton and Lois Fleischmann of Kennedy; 22 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, a brother; Ralph Swanson of Forest-ville; and two sisters, Wilma Boyer of Indiana and Blossom Domenico of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by three wives, Opal Rider Swanson in 1974, Florence Johnson Swanson in 1990 and Dawn Kahabka Swanson in 2000; a daughter, Janice Mueller Herron; a son; Stanley A. Swanson and brothers, Clifford and Wilner Swanson.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the Van Rensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 in the First Baptist Church of Randolph. John Congdon and Rev. Kenneth Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, Forestville, NY.
