Amanda Barton returning to Vespers for second week

CHAUTAUQUA - Hurlbut Community Church in Chautauqua Institution will once again feature special guest Amanda Barton at its "Midweek Vespers" worship service, Wednesday, April 18. The weekly family music and arts worship events will begin with a 5:30 p.m. dinner, with the service beginning at 6 p.m.

Multi-instrumentalist Amanda Barton, known for her appealingly haunting vocal style, will be presenting a program of Gospel, folk, and original compositions. Her acclaimed vocal and fiddle ability has been featured in such bands as Big Leg Emma, the Steve Johnson Band, the Blue Grasshoppers, and Zamira. She is currently celebrating the release of the new Big Leg Emma effort, Revival.

Barton has shared the stage with dozens of premier performers, including Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, John McEuen, and Jefferson Airplane's Jorma Kaukonen.

A coveted studio musician, she is a featured artist on numerous albums, including BLE's critically acclaimed Color of Wind, Bill Ward's Highway in the Desert, and Kev Rowe's Brown Book.

She will be joined by Chautauqua County singer/songwriter Bill Ward. This will be the second in a two-part series presented by the duo.

The Midweek Vespers is a weekly music and arts-based worship service with a minimum of spoken word. It is presented every Wednesday in Hurlbut Church, Pratt at Scott Avenues, Chautauqua NY. "Faith Weaver," a children's supervised bible experience, is provided separately during the service.
