Twenty years ago - 1992

Southern Tier Pizza Hut is being honored by the Resource Center's Board of Directors in recognition of the organization's unique distinction and contribution toward improving the availability, accessibility and quality of employment opportunities in the Chautauqua County community. The Resource Center has successfully placed a total of four participants at three Pizza Hut locations in Lakewood, Jamestown and Fredonia.

Thirty years ago - 1982

It was "show and tell" night for AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp. as employees and their families were given an opportunity to tour more than 36 exhibits featuring finished products made with steel the company produces at the Dunkirk plant. For many of the firm's 1,000 employees, the special exhibit was their first opportunity to actually see the hundreds of ways their customers use the 550 grades of stainless and tool steel made at the plant.

Forty years ago - 1972

Between 15 and 20 cedar trees are being transplanted from a row along the Dunkirk city sewage treatment plant to line the driveway of the John F. Kennedy swimming pool at Wright Park. The trees stand about 25 feet high and are being moved to save them from destruction during the reconstruction of the treatment plant.

Fifty years ago - 1962

The State Department of Agriculture and Markets has announced that Chautauqua County, with 290 apiaries in 1962, ranked third among New York State counties.
