Paint program deadline
The deadline to apply for the city of Dunkirk's painting incentive program, PAINT DUNKIRK!, is Friday at 5 p.m. This program is designed to improve the physical appearance of housing stock of income-eligible persons in a manner that preserves existing housing and adds to neighborhood revitalization.
PAINT DUNKIRK! is a reimbursement grant up to $250 per eligible household, whether the homeowner does the work, or hires a contractor. Applications are available in the Department of Development, 338 Central Ave., Suite 210, Stearns Building, at the City Clerk's office, or by visiting www.cityofdunkirk.com.
This program is different from the regular Rehabilitation Program.

County Bridge No. 954 on Darby Switch Road in Pomfret has re-opened.
Portland Planning Board
The Town of Portland Planning Board will hold a workshop Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall, 87 W. Main St., Brocton. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss plans for a commercial recreational area proposed for south of Woleben Road.
Cornell meeting set
The next meeting of the Cornell Cooperative ExtensionChautauqua County Board of Directors will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the Frank Bratt Agricultural Center, 3542 Turner Road, Jamestown.
The public is welcome to attend.
Dayton special meeting
The Dayton Town Board will hold a special meeting Monday at 6 p.m. to award the bid for a truck. The meeting will be held at the town hall, 9100 Route 62, Markham, South Dayton.
Fredonia meeting today
The Village of Fredonia has called for a special meeting today to continue the Village Board review and potential modification of the 2012-2013 village budget. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Conference Room I, Village Hall.
Let's Get Dirty Day
The Silver Creek-Hanover Garden Club is presenting Let's Get Dirty Day on Saturday at 10 a.m. to celebrate Earth Day.
Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Confirmation Class, First United Church United An-gels and the Key Club will work with adults to refurbish the lawn in the Silver Creek park and gazebo area. The children will rake, place soil down, plant grass seed and lay the hay down.
This project will enable the children to earn merits and community service time.
Valley Historical Society bake sale
The Valley Historical Society will hold a bake sale on Sunday at the Sinclairville fire hall beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a variety of baked goods available and all proceeds will benefit this year's Sinclairville History Fair.
