Healing Mass to be held Monday

A Healing Mass in honor of St. Peregrine, the patron saint of cancer, will take place on Monday, April 23 at 7 p.m. at Blessed Mary Angela Parish at the St. Hyacinth Worship Site, 295 Lake Shore Drive East, Dunkirk. The Rev. David A. Bellittiere and the Friends of St. Peregrine cordially invite those who are afflicted with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses, who wish to receive the Sacrament of the Sick to attend this special Mass. Community Day of Prayer Service set for May 3

May 3 is the National Day of Prayer. The First Baptist Church of Dunkirk will be hosting a Biblical Solemn Assembly with prayer and Scripture readings as the main focus. This will not be a concert and music will be limited to patriotic and worship hymns.

This National Day of Prayer Solemn Assembly will be held at First Baptist Church, 876 Central Ave., Dunkirk, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3.

The church believes America is facing a true spiritual crisis and must deal with the war on religion with fervent prayer. Pastors and area congregations have been invited to participate with Scripture readings and prayer.

The public, as well as church members, are encouraged to join in prayer for a true spiritual revival in the nation. For further information, call First Baptist Church at 366-6634.

Priest Appreciation Dinner sold out

The Annual Priest Appreciation Dinner sponsored by the Knights of Columbus to be held on Sunday, April 29 at St. Anthony's Parish Center has been sold out. Charles St. George, chairman of the event, is reminding everyone who has purchased tickets to bring them to the dinner.

Rummage sale set

WESTFIELD - The Presbyterian Women's Association will hold a Rummage Sale at the First Presbyterian Church on 49 South Portage Street, Westfield, on April 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. and April 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Also on April 26, there will be "Bag Day" from 1 to 2 p.m.

Church to feature band

PORTLAND - The Mountain Railroad Band will be playing at the Portland Congregational Church on Church Street in Portland on Sunday, May 6 at 7 p.m. A free will offering will be taken and refreshments will be served after their performance. Come and enjoy their music.

South Dayton church to hold rummage sale

SOUTH DAYTON - The South Dayton United Methodist Church is having a giant rummage sale on May 4 and 5. It runs Friday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It runs Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A bag sale is Saturday at noon. There is a bake sale both days.
