Yvonne O. Moffett

Yvonne O. Moffett of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away peacefully April 22, 2012 at the age of 73. A lifelong Dunkirk resident, she was born on June 26, 1938 to Nelly (Freville) and Edward Greder.

Yvonne graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1956, where she was active in Latin Club and Debate and enjoyed spending time with her sorority sisters of Theta Beta Chi. Her love of ideas and words continued throughout her life. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry and short stories, and especially a rousing game of Jeopardy or Scrabble. Most of all, Yvonne loved traveling. Her friends and relatives were treated to lively accounts of her adventures around the globe, and dubbed her "Indiana Nana."

Yvonne was a longtime employee of W.L. Putnam Insurance Agency, where she was well liked by her customers and co-workers. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish and the Columbus Club.

Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Moffett of Fresno, Calif., and Hollyann (Michael) Woloszyn of Dunkirk as well as her sisters, Marie Andreas of Chardon, Ohio, Sister Collette Greder of Clarks Summit, Pa., Betty Greder of Wildwood, Fla., and Molly Staley of Dunkirk. She was Nana to Allis-on Haagensen, Julie Annette, and Tyler Eroh of California; James (Mickie) Luszcak and Jeremy Sabatino of North Carolina; Becky Luszcak, Kelly Sabatino and Manda Moffett of Jamestown; and Matthew Woloszyn of Dunkirk.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved companion, Kenneth (KW) Warmbrodt; her son, Michael Moffett; and her brother, Edward Greder.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Burial will be in Willowbrook Park Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
